Butterick b6021 the worst pattern ever

I got this thinking it's really cute with the uneven hemline and super easy for summer since there's only five pieces. I've seen one review of it and she gave it pretty high marks considering she had to do darts to take in the wide shoulders as did I.

This is by far the most unflattering pattern I've ever used. Yes it was easy to sew, but for my body type which is pretty much a rectangle it is not flattering. there are much cuter patterns out there.

The dress is pretty straightforward there's only five pattern pieces and I did not bother lining the skirt since I didn't want to put any more effort into it. According to the pattern I was a size 12 but since I didn't want to be too big I cut a 10.

The under arm is a little small so I Cut them an inch larger.mthe straps were so long and wide that they just fell off my shoulders. Seems to be the most common problem.

Since I'm only 5'2 I did a compromise between the long and short, and cut the skirt right in the middle.

Even though I cut it small the shoulders are superwide I had to put a dart in the front. The skirt is very cute but the top does just not fit at all I don't know what they were thinking. I would not recommend this pattern at all.

Otome no sewing 6 under bust jsk review (daisy jsk)

This is my first time using a Japanese sewing pattern, I made size large which fit me plenty at a 36 inch bust and 29 inch waist. There is no seam allowance so I added it to the pattern.

This is the pattern I used. There are a ton of directions including measurements to cut out the skirt. There is a ton of photos I was able to piece it together easy with no Japanese skills.

I used wax paper to trace the patterns, since there are multipul ones on the page. You will need wax paper, tape (for large pattern pieces) weights, permanent marker, and scissors.

I used a hat for a example since I only took photos for that. The bottom number is how many pieces you need from the pattern, squares and rectangles will have to be drafted by yourself. Above that number is the cutting guide it will be red or black with x's or o's, fully shaded or just a line.

The numbers above the photo of the clothing is to help you find it on the pattern sheet like a map, they are generally set close to each other. (Above photo)

Then I just started cutting out my fabric and followed the photos.

Added ribbons for a lace up top

Sew along arms and neck holes then cut notches.

Turn inside out and press

Trying to figure out where I want lace and pockets

I added all the lace and did them hem, sewed skirt to top and lastly put in the zipper.

Finished photos!

It took me a full day to make since it was my first time with this pattern, I really like how it came out and I think it's very versatile pattern, it was only 7 pieces so it was easy to sew.

I would use this over and over its a really great pattern. The headpiece is from otome no sewing 8.
